SQL Server Data Tools for Business Intelligence (SSDT BI), previously known as Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS), is used to create Analysis Services models, Reporting Services. Installing BIDS is straightforward, you simply run setup from the SQL Server media, and select Business Intelligence Development Studio. There is no more Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) in SQL Server 2014, instead it can be downloaded from the Microsoft download center.

For example, if you added SSDT using VSIX, then upgrade via VSIX. If, for example you had Visual Studio 2010 already set up, installing BIDS would still install a different Visual Studio to support the projects. To upgrade SSDT, you need to follow the same path used to install SSDT.You canât install the community version offline.If you add the SSDT layout to an existing Visual Studio offline layout, the necessary runtime (.exe) components are not created there.

If using a full version of Visual Studio 2017, create an offline folder for SSDT only, and run SSDT-Setup-ENU.exe from this newly created folder (donât add SSDT to another Visual Studio 2017 offline layout). Update: Crystal reports for VS did not support Dbase file types. If they do not support it at this time do not install the package on your PC, it could break their application. All support packs are full builds of Crystal Reports for Visual Studio, thus it is not necessary to update incrementally. Fixes for each Support Pack are prioritized and released on or about end of each yearly quarter.
